JOURNAL #1Journal 1, March 2017 : We have started recycling as soon as we planned our project and got our friends and family involved. We have talked about our service learning project to friends and family, we told them that our goal is to increase the recycling rate in our community by spreading the word about the harm of littering and how so much litter could have been recycled but has just ended up in the ocean. We have presented them with facts and asked if they could spread the word which they agreed to. We also bought recycling bins since our family did not originally recycle. We placed them at our parents' workplace in order to remind them, workers, and customers to recycle. |
JOURNAL #2Journal 2, March 2017 : We decided to meet with our sponsor and talk about tactics to successfully execute our plan to increase the rate of recycling in our community. We agreed that everything starts small but to make sure everything is spread like a chain in order to have a huge impact not just in our community but other communities as well. We decided to further awareness by making posters with a simple poster to quickly catch the readers' attention in order to remind them about the importance of recycling. |
JOURNAL #3Journal 3, March 2017 : We created a survey to collect data on peoples' outlook on the importance of recycling and if they usually recycle, we compared it to data that shows how much trash has ended up in the ocean and realized that many people do care but at times don't take the time to recycle. The fact that people don't recycle is usually because they don't think it is necessary, worth their time, or impactful in any way. We then collected all the recyclables from what we gathered from the streets and from our own houses as well as a few from family members and friends. We were really surprised from the results because the amount of recyclables we collected was outstanding, everything we had could have ended up in the ocean but instead thanks to friends and family they will be recycled. The importance of recycling is spreading along with the increase in amount of people who will recycle and care for the environment. |
